Welcome to STA Stars, a club team for St. Teresa's Academy.

Please read the following commitment policy before you register:

Interest in our program is growing and while we would love to give everyone a chance to play we simply do not have the ability to properly coach more than 48 girls. However, we have made the decision not to have any “cuts” this year. That being said, please be aware that when you register you are filling a highly coveted spot and are committing to every practice and every game on the schedule. We have adopted a new policy this year to more closely align with St. Teresa’s athletic policy and that is if you miss more than 3 unexcused practices and/or 1 unexcused game you will no longer be permitted to play. This policy is to ensure the spots available go to the players who are dedicated to playing and showing up for their teammates.

Coach:

Taylor Bacon Schmidt

Taylor Bacon Schmidt was born and raised in Kansas City. She attended Pembroke Hill where she was introduced to field hockey as a freshman and continued to play all four years. Taylor went on to play field hockey at Denison University where she majored in Psychology and Educational Studies. After graduation she worked for Teach For America in rural South Carolina as a 3rd grade science teacher. Taylor returned to Kansas City in 2017 and lives here with her husband and two children. She coached at Pembroke Hill for 6 years before coming to coach for St. Teresa’s in 2024. She is thrilled to see so many young women discover a love of field hockey just like she did as a freshman so many years ago and hopes it continues to grow!

Practice days:

Monday & Wednesday 5:30-7:30pm at Pembroke Hill (Wornall Campus)

Tuesday & Thursday 5:30-7:30pm at St. Teresa’s OR strength and conditioning at 3:30 with coach Madison Merritt. Different teams will take turns each week.

Friday 3:30-5:00pm at St. Teresa’s (these practices are subject to change depending on field availability)

Games:

Tentatively all JV and C team games are scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays

Varsity game days vary and some are scheduled on Saturdays. This includes a tournament on August 29th and morning of the 30th in St. Louis.

Location:

All practices will be held at The Pembroke Hill School (Wornall campus) or at Saint Teresa's Academy.

All games will be played at Pembroke Hill School (Wornall campus) or Notre Dame de Sion High School. (Both schools have turf fields)

Cost:

$450

This includes:

- Uniforms

- Field rental

- Coach salary

- Umpire fees

- Goalie equipment (this will be donated to the school)

Team Selection:

The team is open to everyone who attends STA.

Teams will be divided by skill level.

Maximum number of participants, 48.

Registration close date:

Registration will close on August 11th or when our roster is filled.

Equipment needed:

- Shin guards (must have field hockey shin guards. Soccer shin guards will NOT work)

- Stick

- Turf shoes or cleats

- Mouth guard

We will schedule a day with an equipment manufacturer at the beginning of the season when you can try out different sticks, and order gear with a great discount.
